Ruddington Parish Council is inviting residents to help shape the future of a brand-new, state-of-the-art community centre on the Village Green.
With the current facilities outgrown by the village’s rapid growth, the Council has purchased land from Nottinghamshire County Council and is moving forward with bold plans for a vibrant, modern space at the heart of Ruddington.
The current spaces, St Peter’s Rooms and the Village Hall, have long served the community, but as Ruddington grows, they have become too small and inflexible. To tackle this, the Parish Council formed a working group in 2020 to ensure the new centre meets the needs of local residents.
Stephanie Palmer, Chair of the Community Centre Working Party and Vice-Chair of the Council, says:
“We’re thrilled to bring this vision to life. This community centre will be more than just a social space—it will be a hub for learning, collaboration, and connection, making a lasting impact on our village.”
Welham Architects and Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire are supporting the project, which promises to offer everything from performance and meeting spaces to outdoor parking with bike racks and green infrastructure, including a community garden.
In late 2020, over 475 residents shared their views in a survey, which helped shape plans for a two-storey centre with flexible halls, offices, a kitchen, and more. But things have changed since the COVID pandemic, and the Council is seeking more input to ensure the final design meets the village’s evolving needs.
How You Can Get Involved:
- Share your thoughts in person: Visit us at the Ruddington Village Market on Saturday, 1 March, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
- See the plans in action: Drop by St Peter’s Rooms on Saturday, 29 March, and Saturday, 12 April, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm to view detailed plans and the architect’s model.
- Take the survey: It only takes 10 minutes! Both events will showcase the proposed plans, with members of the design team present to discuss the proposals and provide updates on funding efforts. This is your chance to ensure the new community centre reflects the village’s needs.
