Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Community Hub reopens in September

The Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Community Hub will reopen on Monday 15th September at West Bridgford Young People’s Centre, with the team aiming to build on an outstanding first year of success.

Launched by the PartnersHealth Rushcliffe Social Prescribing Team in partnership with Rushcliffe Primary Care Network, Rushcliffe Borough Council, local voluntary organisations, wellbeing practitioners and residents, the Hub provides accessible, non-clinical support in the heart of the community.

Every Monday begins with a Drop-in (10am–12pm), where people can find signposting, information, and a friendly chat over tea or coffee. Throughout the day, the Hub offers creative, physical and wellbeing sessions — from art and cooking to Qi Gong, yoga, mindfulness, and lifestyle workshops.

Supporting Local Practitioners

A key feature of the Hub is its commitment to working with local wellbeing practitioners to deliver many of the sessions. This not only supports the local economy but also helps residents discover activities and providers they can continue to access outside the Hub, creating sustainable pathways to long-term health and wellbeing.

Transforming Lives

One attendee, a working mum in her 40s, explained:

“I referred myself to Social Prescribing last year when life became overwhelming. I was signed off work with stress and realised I’d lost sight of looking after myself. Coming to the Hub felt daunting at first, but the support has been invaluable. I joined counselling, mindfulness, Qi Gong and Pilates. These gave me the space to practise simple techniques that now form part of my daily routine. I finally feel like I have time for me again.”

Team Lead, Morgan Sharpe, said:

“Stories like this remind us that in today’s busy world, wellbeing isn’t a luxury reserved for someone else or for some other time — it’s essential to manage the pressures of everyday life. There’s no magic pill; it’s the small daily practices — breathing, walking outside, catching up with a friend, showing gratitude — that keep us well. Some participants have even shared that, with help from the Hub and their pharmacist, they’ve been able to reduce or stop antidepressant medication.”

Why Rushcliffe Leads the Way

Rushcliffe consistently ranks among the healthiest places to live in England. Life expectancy here is higher than national averages, and residents report better wellbeing and lower levels of deprivation compared to many areas. This strong foundation makes Rushcliffe the perfect setting to pioneer models of care that reflect the priorities of the NHS 10-Year Plan — shifting the focus from treatment to prevention, and from hospitals to communities.

Looking Ahead

In its first year, the Hub gathered 766 feedback forms, achieved an average 9.4/10 experience rating, and saw 43% of participants report fewer GP visits — equating to estimated NHS savings of £12,500–£37,700.

The team now hopes to secure further funding to expand the programme, ensuring that Rushcliffe continues to set the pace nationally for community-based health and wellbeing.

The Hub reopens on Monday 15th September at West Bridgford Young People’s Centre.
