Shopkeeper taken to hospital after Nottingham assault – police release image

Police would like to speak to this man after a shopkeeper was assaulted in Nottingham.
The incident happened shortly after a man walked out of a corner shop in Radford with two cans of drink that he failed to pay for.

Police report that when the shopkeeper challenged him, the man spat in his direction. He then grabbed a broom out of the shopkeeper’s hand and used it to strike him over the head.

A crate was also thrown at the shopkeeper during the incident, which happened at a shop at the junction of Denman Street Central and Radford Boulevard on Tuesday 27 August.

“This was a nasty ordeal for the shopkeeper. After he was assaulted, he had to attend hospital as he’d sustained a bad cut to his head.

“We believe the man in this image will be able to assist the investigation and are keen to speak to him.

PC Jak Walker, who is leading the investigation, said he was appealing for anyone who recognises the man in the image to come forward.

“Efforts to trace him have so far proved unsuccessful and we are now appealing for the public’s help.

“Do you recognise him? If so, please contact us as soon as you can.”
