Police arrested a man after seeing him throw a bundle of suspected drugs over a fence in Radford, Nottingham.
Officers attended a property in Peveril Street, Radford, shortly after 9pm on Sunday (7 April) in search of a wanted person.
They could hear voices in the backyard and so gained access via a wooden gate.
As the officers entered the yard, they saw a man throw something over the fence.
Police retrieved the item and found it to be a black sock containing lumps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin (pictured).
The property was searched and officers found a large quantity of cash along with four mobile phone, including a suspected burner phone used for conducting drug deals.
A zombie knife, machete and hunting knife were also seized from the property.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.
He remains in custody for questioning and the suspected drugs have been sent off for testing.
The wanted person, a 45-year-old woman, was also arrested at the property. She was taken into custody to be questioned on suspicion of theft of a mobile phone, criminal damage and possession of Class B and C drugs.
Inspector Liz Gaskin, who leads the City Central neighbourhood policing team, said:
“This was an excellent bit of police work.
“By acting proactively on intelligence, officers were able to locate and detain a wanted suspect as well as detain a man on suspicion of dealing hard drugs.
“In addition to that, they also seized three dangerous weapons.
“Illegal drugs and weapons cause untold misery in local communities and I hope this action serves as a clear message that Nottingham is no easy place to conduct this type of criminality.
“I would urge anyone with any information about drug dealing or unlawful weapons in their area to come forward to the force, in confidence, at any time. Any intelligence helps us build a picture of criminal activity so we can take enforcement action and keep communities safe.”
