Teenagers arrested after throwing tiles from the roof of Nottingham Debenhams building

Six teenagers have been arrested after trespassers climbed onto the roof of a disused building in Nottingham city centre.

Police were called to the former Debenhams store, in Long Row, around 2pm today (31 July) after intruders gained entry to the building.

A number of tiles and other projectiles were thrown from the roof.

Boys aged 12, 13, 13, 13, 13 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public nuisance.

Chief Inspector Jon Hewitt said: “We responded quickly to this incident and thankfully have received no reports of injuries.

“Officers have made a number of arrests and anyone found to be involved can expect a robust response.

“Disused and derelict buildings are dangerous and we’d urge people to both keep away from them and encourage their children to do likewise.

“We will be working with security staff at this site to ensure the building is as secure as it possibly can be going forward.”

Anyone with information or relevant footage should call police on 101, quoting incident number 387 of 31 July 2025.
