Teenagers charged with wasting police time

Four boys have been charged with wasting police time after armed officers deployed to a reported robbery in Mansfield.

Officers rushed to the town centre shortly after 2am on Wednesday 3 September after young man called 999 to say he’d been robbed at knife point by a group of youths.

Four suspects were arrested  a short time later but no knives were recovered.

It was later confirmed that no robbery had taken place.

Four boys, aged 16, 15, 14 and 14 have now been charged with causing wasteful employment of police.
