An unknown man saved a duckling from a drain in Edwalton.
The man came to the rescue as a mother and her ducklings followed resident Amy Falconer as she waited for her husband outside Hilton Cresent Co-op – one fell down a drain and the man lifted it and rescued the duckling.
Amy told The Wire:
‘On Friday 17th April at around 12 noon I was walking to the Co-op on Hilton Crescent in Edwalton with my partner and our baby for our daily walk.
‘While my partner waited in the queue outside the Co-op I wandered around with the pram and noticed a duck and its ducklings following me.
‘They waddled through the car park but unfortunately one of the ducklings fell down the drain.
‘Being a new mother myself I was heartbroken that a mother had lost her duckling.
‘The duck clearly knew she had lost one of her own and started making crying sounds and hovered around the drain.
‘I was about to call the RSPCA when a lovely local man asked what was wrong and got on his hands a knees, pulled up the drain and rescued the duckling. He is a hero and I wish I had got his name!’
