Woman attacked at a Nottingham cash machine

Police investigating a cash machine robbery have arrested two suspects.

A woman called 999 after she was attacked shortly after using an ATM in Hartley Road, Radford, in the early hours of 2 April.

The victim was hit over the head with a ratchet and kicked several times by one of the offenders, who then made off with £40 cash she had just withdrawn.

She told officers her friend also had cash snatched from him in the same incident and that she knew her attacker, who was accompanied by a woman.

Following inquiries, a 42-year-old woman was arrested at a nearby property later that morning, while a 49-year-old man was arrested three days later (5 April).

As well as the two robberies, the suspects were further arrested in relation to an aggravated burglary at a flat in  Radford, on 31 March.

The woman was also arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs.

Both suspects were taken into custody for questioning and have been bailed with conditions pending further investigation work.

Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We are treating these incidents very seriously and are continuing to make good progress with the investigation.

“Following inquiries, we believe the ATM robbery incident and aggravated burglary are linked and involved persons known to the victims. As such we are satisfied there was no wider threat to the public.

“We are determined to get justice for the victims and would ask anyone with additional information that could assist our inquiries to call 101 quoting incident 51 of 2 April 2024.”
