Woman robbed of the jewellery she was wearing – while walking dog in Wollaton

A woman was arrested on suspicion of robbery yesterday afternoon (17 November).

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in connection to an incident where a woman in her 80s was robbed while she was walking her dog.

Police were called to Derby Road at the junction with Charles Avenue in Wollaton at around 2.15pm on 14 July. A woman had struck up to a conversation with the victim who then realised her ring had been taken from her finger along with her St Christopher necklace.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have continued to investigate this case and we constantly review crimes and utilise the expertise of our crime scene and forensic experts.

“This incident touched a nerve with everyone involved including the Radford response officers who immediately rallied round and sent the victim some flowers.

“Members of the public were equally as disgusted as the victim appeared to have been preyed upon for her good nature and vulnerability.

“We pursue those that target the vulnerable and will persist with enquiries in order to bring those responsible to account.”
