A woman has appeared in court after a burglary at the home of a vulnerable Nottingham man.
Tracey Labrum, aged 47, had previously helped the man out with shopping and errands and consequently knew the location of his bank card.
Police were called on 17 July 2022 after an intruder entered the victim’s flat in Radford, before trying to grab a mobile phone and laptop computer.
The victim, a man in his sixties living with a serious illness, was pushed to the floor during a brief struggle before the intruder fled the scene.
The man was never identified but Labrum was one of two people caught on CCTV a short time later using the victim’s bank card at a local cash machine.
The other closely matched the description of the unknown burglar, leading police to conclude that he and Labrum had acted together.
When Labrum was arrested, officers found the same items of clothing she was wearing at the cash machine.
She later pleaded guilty to burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday, Labrum, of Hopedale Close, Nottingham was handed a 21-month jail sentence suspended for two years.
She was also given a 12-month drug rehabilitation order.
PC Kathryn Lucock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“This was horrible experience for the victim, made even worse by the involvement of a woman he knew and trusted.
“Labrum was likely acting under coercion at the time of this incident, but nothing can excuse her actions in this case.”
