The masked rider of a stolen moped was pursued through Clifton and brought to a safe stop by the crews of two armed response vehicles.
The silver motorcycle was reported to have been involved in the robbery of another motorcycle at knifepoint in Clifton at about 8 pm on Sunday 19 July.
The moped, which was stolen last week from the Sutton-in-Ashfield area, was spotted a short time later and pursued by officers south towards Ratcliffe-on-Soar.
Concerned that the rider intended to join the A453 dual carriageway in the wrong direction, officers pulled in front of the bike on Barton Lane and brought it to a controlled stop using tactical contact.
The rider, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of robbery, dangerous driving, failing to stop, and possession of cannabis.
Two other bikes were later recovered from a wooded area near Barton in Fabis, one by PD Rooster and the other by PD Russo.
In addition to finding one of the bikes, PD Rooster also detained a second suspect, a 25-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, dangerous driving, and failing to stop.
Inspector Chris Chell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We had received a number of reports of motorcycle-enabled crime and quickly flooded the area with additional resources.
“The officers involved in the initial controlled stop did an excellent job of bringing the moped rider to a safe and controlled stop, as did the dog officers, who were able to recover two other bikes and locate an additional suspect.”
