Pictures show devastation of huge Nottinghamshire wildfire – eight fire crews remain at scene

Eight fire engines, the high Volume Pump, Command Support and welfare unit are currently in attendance at Strawberry Hill Heath.

Approximately 36,000sqm of woodland and undergrowth have been affected by this incident.

A spokesperson for East Leake Fire Station said:

‘Several of our crews have been to and now have returned to the large wildfire at Strawberry Hill Heath, Mansfield.

‘Our wildfire vehicle will remain at the scene, assisting crews throughout most of the night.

‘We’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the dangers of open flames during this prolonged hot and dry weather.

‘Vegetation is extremely dry, and it only takes a single spark or hot ember to start a devastating wildfire.
