Man arrested after suspected arson at Worksop bungalow

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire at a bungalow in Worksop.

Emergency services were called to the property in Rayton Spur shortly after 7.30pm on Thursday 20 August after a member of the public reported seeing flames.

The bungalow was unoccupied and no injuries were reported. Police said the property was badly damaged.

Officers attended after firefighters raised concerns that the blaze may have been started deliberately.

Following enquiries, a man was arrested in the early hours of Friday 21 August. He remained in police custody for questioning at the time of the force’s statement.

Detective Sergeant Nathan Bingham, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “To assist us with our investigation we are urging anyone who saw what happened or who may have captured CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage relating to the incident to please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
