EMR: All rail services disrupted and delayed due to weather conditions

Passengers using East Midlands Railway services have been warned to expect disruption across the network today because of severe weather and a number of faults affecting trains.

The operator said many routes are currently being disrupted, with services subject to heavy delays of up to 90 minutes, as well as last-minute alterations and cancellations.

East Midlands Railway advised passengers planning to travel today to check their journey before setting off, as trains may be changed or cancelled at short notice. The company said it expects the advertised timetable on affected routes to resume by tomorrow morning.

Passengers are being advised to continue travelling as originally planned where possible, although journeys may take significantly longer than usual. EMR said it was looking at alternative arrangements to keep passengers moving, but warned that these can take time to put in place.

The operator said: “Due to the severe weather and various faults on our services many routes across our network are currently being disrupted.

“Please be aware that if you are travelling on our network today your journey may be affected by last minute alterations and cancellations.”

Passengers with Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak tickets are being allowed to use them on Peak Time trains on the affected routes today.

Anyone with a ticket dated for travel today who decides not to travel can instead use the same ticket to travel tomorrow.

EMR said trains are likely to experience extended delays or alterations and advised passengers to use alternative routes where these are more comfortable or quicker. Tickets can be used at no extra cost via approved alternative routes, where available.

Passengers are advised to check the latest information through National Rail before travelling.
