A boy has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in Melton Mowbray.
At 6.30 pm yesterday (Monday 5 June), a call was received reporting that a youth and a woman were involved in a fight outside a property in Discovery Drive.
Officers attended alongside colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service and on arrival found that the woman – who is in her 20s – had suffered serious injuries.
She was taken to hospital for treatment. She is now in a stable condition.
A 15-year-old boy was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Emma Matts, investigating officer, said: “We are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident but from enquiries carried out so far we know that the boy and the woman are known to each other and we do not believe anyone else was involved.
“Officers will be in the area of Discovery Drive today as the investigation continues and we would urge anyone who saw what happened or has captured anything on mobile phone, doorbell or dashcam footage to come forward.”
