More than 1,800 residents in Rushcliffe have received a discretionary additional central government council tax rebate, adding to the £150 payment they received earlier this year and assist with the challenges as a result of the cost of living crisis.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Revenues team has now administered an extra £93,000 of payments to those eligible and credited individual Council Tax accounts with 4,465 households benefitting.
This builds on the £5.5m distributed to households four months ahead of the government’s deadline.
The additional fund was distributed equally amongst all households in band D or below who were entitled to Council Tax Support on 1 April 2022.
100% of Rushcliffe residents in council tax bands A-D who were eligible to receive the original payments did so nearly three months ahead of the national deadline and these additional payments have now also now been administered as quickly as possible.
Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Finance and Customer Access Cllr Gordon Moore said:
“Our Revenues and Finance teams have once again provided an excellent service in administrating the additional tax rebate to eligible residents, on top of the one-off £150 payments. This amounts to around a further £21 for those eligible households.
“Linked to the cost of living crisis in what we appreciate are such difficult financial times for residents, our staff knew how important it was to reach out quickly with these further payments that totalled over £93,000.
“Distributing these amounts four months ahead of deadline highlights how much we know every penny counts for our residents and we have reacted speedily to ensure eligible residents received the additional rebate.”
