Police in Nottinghamshire swept local parks for hidden blades.
The initiative is part of Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action – Monday 23rd January 2023.
On Wednesday 25 January 2023, the Mansfield South Safer Neighbourhoods Team were at Racecourse Park with metal detectors searching for weapons and knives which may have been discarded or hidden.
Officers said:
‘We searched bushes and the edges of the park, and we found trwo knives and multiple needles along with a rusted tool.

‘These were all hidden in the park grounds.
‘All items found have been disposed of correctly.’
