A police cordon will remain in place throughout today while detectives continue to investigate a stabbing in Radford.
Emergency services were called to St Peter’s Street at 5.57 pm yesterday (27 June) following reports of a serious assault.
A 20-year-old man was treated at the scene by paramedics having sustained a stab wound and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
Police yesterday arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing a knife in a public place. He remains in custody.
The attack took place on the footpath between Midland Way and New Road, which runs alongside the River Leen, with a suspect then running towards New Road.
A cordon has been set up in this area and is due to remain in place today, with police issuing a further appeal for anyone who saw what happened to contact them.
Detective Chief Inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We want to stress that we believe this to have been an isolated incident and, as a result, don’t believe there to be a wider risk to the public.
“A police cordon will remain in place throughout today while we continue to investigate this incident, while we will also be providing a visible presence in the surrounding area to provide the public with some reassurance.
“While we’ve arrested a suspect in connection with this incident, our inquiries are still very much ongoing, so it’s important anyone who has any information that could help us gets in touch.
“We’d particularly like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened, or who has any CCTV or dash-cam footage that could assist us.
“Any piece of information, however small or insignificant it might seem, could help us get to the bottom of what happened, so please share it with us.
“This can be done by calling the police on 101, quoting incident 632 of 27 June 2024, or by contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.”
