Response officers arrested a burglary suspect while following up an abandoned 999 call.
Police attended a house in Calverton after someone called the police from there before hanging up.
This aroused the concerns of officers, who duly went to the address in Park Road, around 5.30am on Thursday (13 August).
While investigating the – as it turned out – unrelated incident, police noticed a man inside the property, who gave his name when asked to do so.
Having checked the police database, officers realised he had been identified and circulated as a suspect in a burglary earlier this year on 15 March.
A series of different items – including a hoover, clothes airers, cooking pans and cat toys – were all reported stolen when a garage in Mapperley Park was broken into.
The 41-year-old man located inside the Calverton address was duly arrested on suspicion of burglary.

“This result served as a great example that, when we say inquiries into an incident are ongoing, this will remain the case while an investigation is open.
“On this occasion, we were able to identify and arrest a suspect in a burglary that was reported nearly five months ago and which we’ve been looking into ever since.
“Having originally attended an address following concerns over what – as it turned out – was an unrelated incident, our officers showed fantastic awareness to ultimately make this arrest.”
