Officers have released images of a number of young people they wish to trace after two girls were forced into a city centre alleyway and attacked.
The incident happened on Saturday 27 June just after 4pm near Clumber Street.
The two victims, aged 13, were in the city centre when they were followed by a group of young people who forced them down an alleyway.
They were then kicked and punched to the face and head. The attack was also filmed by one of the group.
The pair took refuge in Primark after the attack. Police were then later called about the incident and are trying to find those responsible.
Both suffered concussion as a result of the attack, with bruising to both the face and head.
Officers have now released images of a number of people who could help further their investigation and are calling on the public’s help to identify them.
PC Ryan Prince, who is investigating the incident, said:
“This was a cruel and vicious attack on two young girls just enjoying their time in the city.
“They were forcefully taken down an alleyway, out of view of others, where they were attacked for no reason whatsoever.
“Those responsible even took delight in filming the attack on their mobile phone.
“As you can imagine, the attack has left a devastating impact on both victims.
“We are determined to find those responsible and have already carried out a number of lines of inquiry since the incident occurred, but no arrests have been made yet.
“We are now appealing to the public for information. We believe those pictured will have information that could help us with our investigation.
