Elderly man assaulted after car parking argument

Police were called after reports that an elderly man was assaulted during a parking dispute.

Officers attended an address in Player Street, The Meadows, shortly before 1pm on Sunday (8 May) afternoon when a man in his eighties, was allegedly pushed to the ground.

He was not seriously hurt.

People at the scene also reported being threatened with a knife before police arrived.

A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault. He was later released under investigation.

PC Robert Sayer, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We will always respond very quickly to this kind of disturbance, especially when the presence of a knife is reported.

“This incident remains the subject of an investigation and I would ask that any additional witnesses call police on 101 quoting incident 396 of 8 May 2022.”
